Stresses of daily life, injuries or
accidents can cause the joints in the back
to shift out of their alignment and affect
your range of motion. Small changes in the
alignment of
your
spine cause irritation to your nervous
system, resulting
in joint, muscle and nerve
pain.
Chiropractors are trained
specialists that find the source of
the pain, assess the problem
and make the proper
adjustments, restoring motion and allowing
your spine and nervous system to work
properly again. This hands-on treatment can
be performed using a number of different
techniques on infants, children, adults,
seniors and pregnant
women alike.
What is a chiropractic
adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a treatment in
which the
chiropractor uses a safe amount of pressure
directly on the misaligned area of your
spine. This adjustment relieves the
pressure on the joint and surrounding
nerves, and most
importantly, allows your spine to return to
its proper position. As chiropractors are
concerned with your overall well-being,
treatments target the cause of the
problem rather than
masking the symptoms.

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a highly skilled, safe and
effective treatment performed by highly
trained professionals. It's hands-on
treatment that can be performed on infants,
children, adults, seniors and pregnant
women. I treat your pain by addressing the
cause, not the symptoms. It's simple, and it
works!
Vertebrae, the bones in your back, are
connected by tissues and work together,
allowing movement to occur, while protecting
your spinal cord. When all the joints are
moving well, your spine is strong and
flexible. Everyday stresses of daily life,
injuries or accidents can cause the
vertebrae to shift out of their alignment or
affect your range of motion. Small changes
in the alignment of your spine cause
irritation to your nervous system, resulting
in pain in the joints, muscles and nerves
along your spine and also extending to your
extremities.

Chiropractors are highly-trained
specialists that find the source of
the pain, assess the problem and
make the proper adjustments,
restoring motion and allowing your
spine and nervous system to work
properly again.
Chiropractic joint manipulation,
also referred to as an adjustment,
is a treatment in which the
chiropractor uses his or her hands
to apply a very quick, precise, and
safe amount of pressure directly on
the problem area of your spine. This
adjustment relieves the pressure on
the joint and surrounding nerves,
and most importantly, allows your
spine to return to its proper
position. The adjustment is not
painful, and often provides
immediate relief of your pain.
Different chiropractors use
different techniques. The Complete
Wellness Team are
trained in several techniques
including the following:
- diversified chiropractic joint
manipulation - activator methods - drop-table and low-force
techniques - non-force techniques - ART (active release technique,
certified in Spine, 2001) |

Chiropractic treatment types
There are different ways a chiropractor can
care for your back, depending on your
condition. Generally, there are three levels
of care, but for most people, the need is
for immediate relief.
RELIEF CARE is provided for immediate pain
and discomfort. Depending on the diagnosis,
your age and physical condition, one visit,
or several visits over a relatively short
period of time may be necessary.
CORRECTIVE CARE treats long term spinal
problems. Because these problems have
existed for some time, they require a
longer, more complex period of care, which
may include a customized exercise program.
SUPPORTIVE OR MAINTENANCE CARE helps you
maintain and enjoy the benefits you've
achieved from relief and corrective care.
Continuing to work with your chiropractor
and having adjustments once in a while will
keep your spine as healthy as possible.
As chiropractors are concerned for your
overall well-being, most treatment is
accompanied by exercise, diet, and other
healthy living suggestions to help keep your
back healthy and strong.

How are Chiropractors trained?
In Canada, over 120,000 individuals per day
experience the benefits of chiropractic.
Chiropractors are required to complete a
minimum of three years of university,
followed by fours years at an accredited
chiropractic college. Chiropractic students
receive over 4500 hours of education,
including anatomy, neurology, physical
assessment, patient management and hands-on
clinical experience. Once students have
completed their education, they must pass
both provincial and national exams to earn
the right to practice as a Doctor of
Chiropractic (DC).
